Several Kyle Group project-driven and education focused initiatives are in place with key EMS delivery systems in southeastern WV. Dr Kyle serves as regional medical director for the WVOEMS, squad medical director for STAT EMS, and medical director of paramedic education at NRCTC.
WVOEMS
Rural EMS system analysis and improvement is a priority for the WV Office of Emergency Medical Services. Dr. Jim Kyle serves as one of seven regional medical directors and his leadership area includes six counties in southern portions of the state. West Virginia enjoys recognition of designing pre-hospital care utilizing “state-wide” EMT and Paramedic protocols. The MPCC composed of all regional medical directors is charged with modification of existing protocols and designing innovative new treatments to enhance patient care.
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, The Kyle Group provides routine weekly video conferencing for all Region 1 EMS Squad leaders. Each phase of the Pandemic has presented unique challenges.. Early COVID protocol development and weekly squad testing, First line vaccination and initial squad resistance, Delta variant with adolescent new target for hospitalizations. Strategies for stress related to decreased workforce and long ER wait times remain a priority during the current Omicron variant surge.
STAT EMS
The Kyle Group provides consultation for STAT ambulance services providing comprehensive EMS care to Wyoming and Mingo counties. In addition to medical direction for routine EMS and CCT (Critical Care Transport), TKG participates in community education, human resource design and development, and program expansion. Dr Kyle also serves as Medical director of STAT’s on-site state approved education center.
This rural deliver EMS system has unique opportunities and challenges and is dedicated to performance improvement providing an example for adoption in other systems with limited hospital access and inherent long transport times. Project driven opportunities include school based stroke education, safe sports play focus on sports venue coverage, and community AED outreach.
NRCTC EMS
Education focused, The Kyle Group provides medical direction for the paramedic training program at NRCTC headquartered in Beckley with additional campus sites in Summersville and Lewisburg. Program development and design includes partnership with a variety of EMS agencies in the region.
Community college education can be rigorous with a majority of students maintaining full time status as squad EMT during the 16 month curriculum. In addition to program overview, The Kyle Group provides stakeholder relationship strategy and human resource support to enhance the learning experience. NRCTC enjoys a high percentage of student pass rates for national certification.
